Thank you for sharing your story. I found it to be very powerful and insightful. I am not able to have children, but I have always been pro-choice for various reasons. It was sad to hear about the woman was lack of resources. We can do so much better as a country!

    Xanthe,
Thank you for such a thoughtful response! I put a lot of time into this article, because although I am writing for myself, I feel as if I am representing all of the intersexed people I know so I want it to be as accurate as possible. Thank you!

Thank you Bob and Amy! I attempted to generalize an experience that can be complicated, but after meeting many other woman with CAIS, we have bonded over similar stories. Thanks for listening!

    Julie,
This is a great piece that really got me thinking! Everyone does have their own problems in life, and it is all about perspective. There is a definite difference when you take FWP into account, and life becomes more superficial if that is what you focus on. I just hope that people look outside themselves and find something they care about…[Read more]

Lets stop worry about the numbers and start worry about the people and respecting them for being born that way and their wishes on what they would like to be called…Thank you!

I see it all of the time working with cancer patients. If someone dies because of the disease it was because it was “their time”, but if someone ends treatment and is in remission then praise God for his grace to give them strength to get through it.

I work for a non-profit cancer organization and I really dislike gimmicks like this. I did not participate when the whole no makeup selfie thing went around, because I didn’t get it and didn’t understand how that was helping cancer awareness (I am a cancer survivor myself).

I find it really hard to not participate in the ice bucket challenge…[Read more]

Thank you, HJ! I hope to write some more on the topic soon, and more than just my personal story. It is so easy for most of us to blend in and not speak out, as I appear as a normal woman, except for those XY chromosomes, so it’s good to know we have support!

Thank you, Chris! It was a pleasure to share it to the Skepchick community to raise awareness!

    • It’s good to see an intersex person get a forum. Binary people speaking for intersex people has…a history of…issues. (I’m thinking of John Money here.)

My best friend is an anti-vaxxer and it’s really hard to think that if something had happened to her babies because of this? I already don’t agree with her decision to not vaccinate her children, but it is unbelievable how much under the radar people can go with their children with home births and not finding pediatricians.
